IF: Winter

I know it's been a long time since I posted a blog entry for Illustration Friday. It's been tough trying to fit in time for extra drawing outside of the sketchbook project which I slowly am losing steam on...sadly. However today helped get me going on the IF topic this week. We're having the right weather for it today! Snow! Snow! Snow! So here is a little something.
I apologize if the background looks familiar but I got a little lazy and recycled part of another previous blog entry.
Enjoy the snow it's looks real pretty!

Ollie Bear and Nu Bear

Two new additions to the Lizlings crew have been added this week. Nu Bear is the the lighter colored bear and the little guy is Ollie Bear. Both of these two critters were made for my friend Kelly. Thanks for the business! However I got a few more new ones in the works and some pictures to take of them when completed... Sketchbooking, design x-mas cards and launching my Etsy store soon. Busy Busy months are coming!

Sketchbook Project: 1

So I wasn't going to post anything from the sketchbook project yet but the thing is is that I haven't posted anything worthwhile in a while! I haven't been completely interested in the last few weeks of topics from Illustration Friday and have been designing some new plush and wasting the entire month of October on my Ramona Flowers Halloween costume. Now that that is done I am just getting started on the sketchbook project. I got a few illustrations going right now but I really like this enough to show on here for now. December is going to be a crazy month if it hasn't already begun now. I got two new plush bear designs to make, a monkey and squid to finish and a ton of stuff to put up for sale on Etsy by the time the new year rolls in, unfortunately not in time for Christmas this year. I am going to start the new year right on track dammit! In the meantime stay tuned for upcoming sketchbook illustrations, Etsy store opening announcement and more of the same old good stuff! Thanks again for stopping by!

IF: Dessert

One of my favorite desserts are cupcakes, carrot cupcakes to be exact. However an array or brightly colored ones always make me smile!

IF: Immovable

Mitchell thought it was a good idea to let Clyde, his large secret monster friend that lives in his closet out for some ice cream. What Mitchell didn't know was that you can't move a monster enjoying a bowl of chocolate ice cream. He should have thought about that before letting Clyde out only a few minutes before Mitchell's parents would return home early from their night out.

Rhino!

A very unlikely animal for me to draw but here he is. Maybe I'll name him Kingston...He looks like a Kingston. So this is another drawing on wood and colored pencil. If I keep drawing like this I am going to run out of colored pencils quickly!

Lydney

So this is a little doodle that kind of happened while waiting around for files to open up on my computer at work. She ended up being name Lydney because that was the name of one of the papers my coworker designed. I totally loved the name for some strange reason. I have been advised to only naming my little characters and pets in fear that if any potential future child of mine were to enter this existence it would live a lifetime of being made fun of! Heh oh well...
I've been pretty busy, being busy sewing my toys but getting distracted on a collaborative illustration project with my boyfriend. At some point I hope to get those images up on here but it will be a treat when I do. It's pretty awesome! BUT the big distraction that might keep me from many projects is The Sketchbook Project that I finally as of today decided to participate in. I am super excited about working on this! I'm going to have about 4 months of drawing funness filling up a skinny moleskin sketchbook! Good luck to me!

We all scream for Ice Cream!

Happy Birthday Kerry!

I made this for one of my bestest friends, Kerry. Her birthday is in a few days but I gave this to her this past weekend. It's kind of a b-day card/ drawing. Basically it's a Liz drawing on wood. I think it came out pretty nice and there will be more like it to come!

IF: Artificial

Two things that are completely unnatural, green chocolate chip ice cream and hot pink hair, both of which I like very much!

IF: Double

Here is all I could come up with for this weeks drawing. I can't think straight because the heat coming off my computer is getting to me! Also the whole entire time I drew this all I could think of was the Foreigner song Double Vision. Silly me. Anyway it's a really quick sketch colored in with markers, my favorite. Bunny's, twins and cupcakes equals the whole sharing means caring bit. It's a nice way to be.

IF: Diary

Here's my drawing for this week. It's a bit rushed a little more than usual. You know trying to cram things in midweek, sew some toys, clean the fish tank, and watch some X-files reruns while I do it all!
Anyway, I think this looks a little similar to a drawing I did a few weeks ago...It should be called "Later that Night." I intended for this to be a night scene but I think it translates more like a quiet winter night. Oh well, I'll tell ya, it's been so fricken hot lately that I wouldn't mind a nice brisk winter night. No need to rush the seasons though!
Enjoy my illustration!

Mustaches Rule.

Tis' a strange new drawing I know. It's to commemorate how awesome the mustache can be especially when detachable, for a party and beer is involved. Oh can't wait for that mustache party!

Love Bot.

It's Dad's Day...

Haven't given this card to my dad yet. I'm pretty sure he will like it. I like it a lot! Just had a lot of random trinkets and papers laying around. Papers from Cosmo Cricket and other such companies I can't think of ...Somehow all the colors and patterns came together really well.
Happy Father's Day to all those dads out there.

Scout and Friend

Sooooo I haven't really been keeping up with my blog quite as much as I want to. I mean in reality, I would love to be doing nothing but making art and toys and posting it all day long but I need a paycheck so I gotta do what I gotta do if that means working hard from 9 to 5 and squeezing in a few hours afterwards for myself. By all means I'm not being down on work. Just like every human being out there, there is always something else you would rather be doing especially when you're an artist and you got a never ending list of projects. Sometimes you just want to be sitting by the water somewhere with a beer and sketchbook at hand.
Anyway in the meantime, I have been breaking my finger tips sewing away little critters here and there. I am just about ready to throw some stuff on my etsy store hopefully soon! My latest new plush is an octopus. This guy who currently is nameless is the first version of what's to come. There was a lot of trial and error working with it but I think I have a good template to work with now. It's pretty darn cute and I am currently working on a better version for my friend Patty. Soon after that's done, the little guy will follow in a purple color in that cute little familiar face we see through out my blog.
The little pink bunny however is the famous bunny in just about every illustration I do. His name is Scout. I've been meaning to work on him for months...maybe even a year by now! I wanted to knit him a cute striped scarf but my knitting skills are a bit rusty but I was able to still hook him up with a nice white one. Eventually Scout will follow me on my travels and we'll see more of him...kind of like a traveling gnome kind of thing....
That's all for now! Enjoy :) And as always Thank you for stopping by!!

Spring Projects

Ok ok! I haven't posted anything in a long time now. I have been incredibly busy the past few months researching the perfect bike for me. Finally I have settled with a really nice Trek hybrid/comfort bike. It's pretty awesome and I love it so. Now that I finally have it, it's time for me to get back into the swing of things.
Meantime while I was on my quest for the perfect bike, I had spent many hours every night searching the internet, I of course downloaded some new tunes. So with some new tunes I thought it was time to make some new mixes which usually means homemade scrapped cd covers....For now these cd covers are all I have but promise there will be more art to show soon....

Bathing Beauties

Been doodling girls in less clothes today. Hopefully one day I will get around to illustrating them in Illustrator but not tonight!

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

hello spring!

So it has been pouring all day since yesterday and I am pretty tired of it! We still haven't recovered from the last storm we had about two weeks ago. However, I know all this rain will help the plants and trees to start blooming and what not if they don't fall over from a soaking wet ground...

Girlyfish

So I had intentions of posting a drawing for Illustration Friday but I just couldn't get into it this week. However, I finally finished an illustration I started a few years ago. I don't know what took me so long. Although, I did have to go back into the illustration and update some of the style I had originally approached this drawing with. The eyes were far too big!

IF: Brave

Here is this weeks drawing. It's a little rushed so I apologize for that but I have been sooo busy making toys for my etsy shop!
Now matter how hard I try to make something look mean and ugly...it just turns into something cute and lovable! She's suppose to look all brave next a big scary monster...oh well! Anyway hope some of you still enjoy it.

Tuesday Lunchtime Doodle!

So...I have been very motivated to draw lately or just make anything creative in general. Yay me! However, I could always use more hours in a day and I think I might have found a little extra time during lunch to doodle away in my sketchbook. I figure it's kind cold out. In fact it's really fricken cold out so why not draw instead....and of course eat! Also I'm trying to keep up with my hand drawing skills especially because I just ordered 27 new markers and that means I spent some money which also means I better make the most of my dollars!
