Perhaps it's a Jack A Lope

I never posted this way back whenever. Never really got good pictures of it either but I wanted to share. Here's my little faux taxidermy creature. It's not perfect but I do find it charming in a creepy way. One day never, I may get back to this and make another.... maybe.

Needle Felt - Baby Octoling

Here is my first attempt at needle felting. Needle felting was something I always wanted to try. Having 0 experience with this craft, I had always felt intimidated by the super sharp needles. Part of me felt like what's the point I could just sew something up or make it out of clay. However it's actually pretty cool! I found it to be quite relaxing methodically jabbing a needle into soft fluffy stuff that would suddenly take form the more jabs it got. Although I do want to say that I stabbed my fingers at least twice making this little guy! With that said it's still a nice way to make tiny little critters! It's like sculpting with wool. I'll plan to keep trying it out now since I have an abundance of roving wool to use!

Watercolor #20 - Katey drops her ice cream

It's a hot summer day and Katey really wants to cool off with an ice cream. There's a really long line at the ice cream stand on the boardwalk. After waiting patiently she gets her favorite flavor, strawberry vanilla swirl. She anxiously licks the quickly melting ice cream as she walks back to the beach. Unfortunately before she can get too far the the giant scoop slides off the cone and falls onto her foot.

Doesn't that suck.

Here's to hot summery days, beaches, boardwalks and ice cream! Cheers!

Watercolor #19_Octopus -1

This was an illustration that was living in my head for weeks until recently. Now it's done! In fact now that it's done is when I realize it's missing a leg! What kind of an octopus are you! Maybe he lost it in the war? I mean really do you see all the legs at once!? Sometimes yes and sometimes no and in this case that leg is back there hiding out I swear!

So as of the last few weeks, I came to realize I can't do a weekly watercolor every week. I can say though that I have kept at it for year and that is pretty awesome! I can also say that I will continue to keep doing watercolors for sure just not weekly ones. However I would expect to see some kind of something from me every week whatever it may be such as a doodle, a painting, a lizling  or whatever the heck it is I am working on! Just trying to keep things interesting! Stay tuned. Cheers!

Where the Tomorrows Go

So I haven't been able to really talk about it much until now! It was that big illustration project that I have been working on for awhile....

Everyone knew that I drew pretty pictures and did crafty things and from my weekly posts on facebook/ blog. One day it finally went a little bit beyond someone just "liking" my art. A friend from high school had a friend that was looking for an illustrator for his second book. We were introduced and hit it off well. We talked about the project and what he was looking for and if I was up for the challenge. I always wanted to illustrate a book and this seemed like an opportunity to give it a try. It wasn't just any other children's book. It was special.

In the last couple of weeks it finally came together and now it's available. Manoj, the author of the book says it best and you can check out this link here and get to know more about the book: http://wherethetomorrowsgo.com/. To some it up in a few words it is a children's book about understanding and coping with loss. The story is about Bella and her pet dog Gogo. It's a very different subject matter, very real and honest yet uplifting ofcourse. Because let's face it life can be unpredictable and even more so when your a kid. I remember what it was like when I was a little and we had to put our dog to sleep. It was trying moment that your best friend wasn't going to be by your side anymore. During illustrating this book, as an adult once again had to put another dear furry friend to rest. It doesn't get easier with age but I definitely felt connected to Bella as she deals with her lost. I can go on but really check it out. You can buy the hard copy & e-book on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Where-Tomorrows-Go-Manoj-Abraham/dp/0988796570/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434070430&sr=8-1&keywords=where+the+tomorrows+go And on the itunes store.

Craft Fair Funness!

It happened! We did our first craft fair! It was hard parting with some stuff but in the end I have no space to keep everything. It just seemed right that these special one of kind pieces would make their way into someone elses home to enjoy. So now there is teeny bit more space to make more! On that note I will be working to get a Facebook page up shortly so that I can centralize all of my major postings and announcements through there. I will be working to get an Etsy store up and running to some degree this year right in time for the holiday season if not sooner. In the meantime, here are some pictures I want to share from Sunday! Cheers!

Weekly Watercolor #18 - Craft Fair!

In 2 weeks I will be participating in the Fort Lee Arts & Music Festival with my friend Gina. I wouldn't have done this if Gina didn't ask! I have been crazily trying to sew up sew up some things for it and hopefully by then I have a decent amount or else I am just going to be sitting there giving out lollipops!

So when is this thing happening...it's happening on Sunday June 7th from 11am to 6pm. This is my first time doing a craft fair and I am excited! For those you interested the location of the craft fair is on Lemoine Avenue between Main Street and Bruce Reynolds Boulevard. Yay!

Weekly Watercolor #17 - Poo

Oh Poo. I have missed 2 weeks of these things and all for good reasons. First, I have been away in sunny beautiful California where I really took not only a week off from work but from all creative work. I am still stuck looking at glorious mountains in my head. Now that I am back, the second reason for no posts is I am currently working on stuff to sell for a craft fair next month! Yay my first craft fair! Let's hope I have enough stuff to sell and that someone actually buys stuff! For anyone curious, the craft fair is June 7th in Fort Lee. More details to follow soon. Stay tuned! In the meantime I would expect bi-weekly watercolors until June 7th....we'll see.

Weekly Watercolor #14 - Easter Bunny

Here's one I doodled in between eating and napping yesterday. Hope those who celebrate Easter had a lovely!

Weekly Watercolor #13 - Fish Doodles

Here's another what I call a "deconstructive" watercolor. Just playing around with paint more than actually trying to paint. It's just a little bit more looser to work this way every once and while.

Weekly Watercolor #12 - Dreaming

2 watercolors in 1 week is too ambitious. So this is just a quick on scribbled into my sketchbook for this week. Enjoy!
